Funeral services were held in Johnsonville with Rev H Vriesen officiating and burial in Johnsonville cemetery.
A Trinity Lutheran parish school in Merrill is a mass of ruins after an early morning fire. The blaze caused about $40,000 in damage and left 204 children without quarters. A congregational meeting is planned to decide next steps. Origin of the fire is not yet determined.
Milwaukee faced a new cold snap as snow accumulates to inches and forecasts call for continued wintry weather through today. Local officials warn residents to prepare for slick roads and plummeting temperatures.
William Bellekowitz, after entertaining two strangers at the Jacob Dalker saloon on 1301 Michigan Avenue, was robbed of about $13.40 at Sixth Street and Blackstock Avenue. The assailants fled. police found Bellekowitz incoherent and unable to name the robbers or describe the car. Officers doubt they can locate the culprits given his condition and vague lead.
