Milwaukee February 14 Professor M V O Shea of the University of Wisconsin spoke on Everyday College Endowment Association. He argued that children differ in body and mind and that groups share dominant traits. He contrasted two brothers to show differing strengths and failures in school and work. He urged more support for practical abilities and manual arts in schools.

ScIMDT Lieut. Paul Schmidt of Co. C has earned his commission as second lieutenant after an extended National Guard career. He enlisted December 18, 1898, rose through ranks to sergeant and quartermaster, and finally was commissioned March 26, 1912. He has attended annual camps at Camp Douglas and military maneuvers at West Point. He is expected to succeed Capt. Hickey, per recent Press notices.
Frank Miller a teamster was shot and killed by Motorcycle Policeman Pieper in front of 950 West Thirty-fourth street at noon after Miller attacked an officer with an axe. Miller had stolen a wagon load of bones from Western Packing Co. Dr G J Bachhausen opened offices in the Columbia building corner of New York and Eighth street with modern equipment for premier dental service.
Banks will close at 3 p m instead of 4 p m daily under the new schedule. Wednesday evening hours end, while all banks will stay open weekdays 7 to 9 p m except Saturdays. All banks in the city are part of the agreement and readers are urged to save page 8 notice for reference.
A northern state girl employed locally gave birth at the Home of the Friendless after a physician ordered her there. A warrant is out for the arrest of the traveling salesman linked to the case as authorities pursue the father and further details emerge in the coming days.
Fond du Lac Wisconsin February 14 Mrs Nancy K Allen of Oshkosh and Frank lin K Brown of Delphi Kansas both over seventy married in a Fond du Lac hotel after rekindling a childhood romance. They had each been previously married and both spouses are dead.
Ferdinand Weyland aged 52 form er merchant and member of Kuechle Weyland Co of Milwaukee died Thursday evening in Milwaukee from heart disease. He was cousin of Theodore Kuechle Sr and formerly with Dotzauer Weyland in North High Street Dry goods. Survived by wife three sons and one daughter one son a minister in Crandon Wis. He had been in good health prior to Thursday.
Detroit jury finds the Bath Tub Trust members guilty in Judge Sessions court. Sentences set for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. penalties range from one year in jail and a 5000 dollar fine per individual, with corporations fined 5000 dollars each. Defendants include Theodore Ahrens Jon and several executives from Standard Sanitary, McCrum-Howell, Barnes, National Sanitary, and other firms. The case centers on violations of the Anti-Sherman trust law involving Kohler Sons Co. as key witness.
Mrs Mary J Lenton Gilson of New York born May 4 1843 died at 6 this morning at her daughter Mrs Wallace Piper home in Sheboygan Falls heart failure after a short illness. Survived by three children S C Gilson E L Gilson and Mrs Piper two sisters four brothers and four grandchildren. Funeral from Mrs Pipers Monday at 2 pm with graveside prayers Tuesday in Greenbush Baptist church burial Greenbush cemetery beside husband.
New York on Friday James Maloney Wells manager offered Luther McCarty ten thousand dollars in cash to enter a ring with the British heavyweight Wells. The move came after Billy Gibson failed to arrange a Madison Square Garden bout. Maloney said Wells will chase McCarty across the country until a fight is forced.
Wenzel Schwartz longtime secretary of the Eastern Wisconsin Saenger Bund and a well known Oshkosh tailor died suddenly in Oshkosh on Thursday after suffering a stroke while on his way to work. Funeral set for Sunday afternoon with Rev. Smith presiding. Local musical representatives Behrens and Winkler will attend from the city. He had been in excellent health and had just arranged to play skat that evening before his collapse.
Reports from Elk City say a blaze nearly destroyed the town and three people died in the fire. Nearby, Madison senators push a renewed woman suffrage bill with similar language to the 1911 measure, adding the word female to voters. Assemblyman Axel Johnson of Turtle Lake also bills a 1914 voter referendum.
