A midnight fire destroyed the Metscher home and barn on Howards road just outside city limits. Elderly occupants Mr and Mrs Metscher and Mr Eisold escaped with help from neighbors. The blaze likely started in a maple wood pile in the barn, fanned by a breeze. loss estimated at about 3500 dollars with minimal insurance.
