The Wisconsin Conservation Commission ordered a hearing on the Black River Wildlife Refuge in Sheboygan County to hear arguments for and against the refuge and to fix the boundary lines. The hearing, to be announced by Mat Patterson, will be attended by at least two commissioners to finalize the boundary and address minor points raised since the refuge’s January approval.

Miss Anna Preher a 45 year old grade school teacher was found murdered in Carmi Illinois with evidence of a violent struggle. State's Attorney James M Endicott identified Hoyt Mc Murray a 25 year old Carmi mulatto as a suspect and said four bloody coats were found in a Negro home. Police in surrounding towns were asked to join a wide search for the missing suspect.

Henry Scheele aged 74 a veteran monument builder in Sheboygan since 1880 died of heart failure at 522 Niagara avenue at 4 45 p m Friday after a brief illness neuritis in his right shoulder not deemed critical He helped erect the Fountain Park soldier monument in 1889 He was born Feb 8 1854 in Sheboygan He leaves widow daughter Henriette A Scheele son Henry Scheele Jr and sister Annie M Scheele Funeral at 2 p m Monday at his home conducted by Rev M R Brandt Burial in Wildwood cemetery He served as director of Sheboygan Building and Loan association treasurer of Memorial Craftsmen of Wisconsin since 1905 and held other offices.

Peter N. Novitsky, a former imperial Russian colonel, after fourteen years abroad found his wife Barbara alive in Chicago with friends. He filed to annul his 1922 marriage to Zenaida Pavlanova, whom he wed in Constantinople, after discovering Barbara may still be alive. He recounts his wartime service, searches in Japan and China, and the revelation from relatives in Constantinople. Barbara and family had fled to Japan and then the United States, believing Novitsky dead or captured by the Reds.
Madison justice and Juneau county's young sheriff Lyall Wright faces federal charges of conspiring to violate the prohibition act as he and state officials clash over illegal distillery activity near Kilbourn. Arrested after an ouster hearing, Wright posted 2500 bond while denying all accusations. The case links a large raid on a Wisconsin distillery, alleged bribes, and Wright's alleged ties to men involved in the operation, with continued testimony on Wright’s dealings before and after the raid.
Madison Wis In a letter to County Judge E B Belden Attorney General John W Reynolds said he found no authority for appointing a special prosecutor or investigators in Kenosha County regarding lawlessness tied to the Allen A strike. He noted Belden had received over 3000 petitions urging a grand jury action and agreed investigations should occur, but said state actions require proper officers to initiate proceedings before magistrates and the county.
Congress adjourned today until January 3 for the holiday recess after a brisk three week session. In brief Christmas spirit sessions, the Senate met fifty minutes and the House thirty minutes. Senator Frazi er signaled the Kellogg anti war treaty to advance after recess. Representative Tilson wished members a Merry Christmas as a few minor Senate bills passed and the House did no business. President Coolidge sent several messages including an AG Sargent opinion on the Norris Muscle Shoals veto authority.
In Fond du Lac Wisconsin Glen C Scott of Fond du Lac driver for the Wisconsin News was killed when a Chicago and North Western electric train struck his truck at the Twelfth Street crossing. The locomotive carried the truck for three blocks down the track. Scott, about 30 and married, died instantly. conductor R O Rusch and motorman Walter Flanagan aboard the Janesville Fond du Lac line were not harmed.
Harry Welch, 16, of Burlington, was arrested and arraigned on fourth degree manslaughter charges in the death of 8 year old Charles Fritkoff from a crash earlier this month. The preliminary hearing was adjourned to January 10, bail set at $2,000, and Welch remained in the county jail.

Baby Frankie Brooks of Bluefield West Virginia, 18 months old, has had a toy motorcycle stuck in his throat since last Saturday. He arrived at Jackson Clinic in Philadelphia in a dire condition. Dr H H Haggert, a throat specialist, performed an operation but the toy remains lodged and pneumonia danger looms. If another operation occurs it may be fatal. 24 hours could decide his fate. Parents are Mr and Mrs Charles Brooks of Asco West Virginia.
