Helen Dassow seven month old daughter of Mr and Mrs H Dassow died at 8 am today at the family home in Mosel after a week long illness. Survivors include her parents and a brother Willard age 7. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm from the home and 1:30 pm at the Lutheran church in Mosel with Rev M Denninger officiating. Interment in the city cemetery under R H Kroostins.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court upheld a Milwaukee appellate ruling that a Yellow Cab driver acted as an employee when he left the city and collided seven miles outside Racine. Damages of 35 123.84 were awarded against the cab company despite appeals by Yellow Cab and Mulkern Auto.
An aged man, Matthing Brest, 45, 1419 Mohr tens avenue, was struck by an inbound Kohler car at 6 18 yesterday afternoon near Win t stret and Michigan avenue. He suffered a compound fracture of the leg and was taken to St Nicholas hospital after initial care at the street car terminal. Clara Smith Hammon remains missing while police chase a murder case tip from Idaho and Washington.

Cleveland officials report Chief Justice McGannon of the Cleveland Municipal Court will be tried in Common Pleas Court on a second degree murder charge in the May killing of Harold C. Kagy. The indictment followed a grand jury probe. McGannon pleaded not guilty and posted $10,000 bond.

Valentin Uhrig aged 19, an employee for the city street department, was severely injured Friday morning at the Eastern Wisconsin Electric power plant while loading cinders from small cars into a city track. A car tipped, a wheel struck him, and he was tossed ten feet to the ground. He suffered a severe dislocation of the left elbow with fractures and was taken to St Nicholas hospital before being released to recover at his home 512 Niagara Avenue.
Mrs Anna Gray of 1325 North Sixteenth Street reported a man claiming to be a federal officer asked to search her residence for a still. The paper cautions that no home can be searched without a warrant under the prohibition act and advises contacting local police with a description of the stranger.
Hogs slumped across the middle west as farmers sold heavily. Receipts were large at yards and prices fell to new lows not seen in four years. In Kansas City hogs dropped to the lowest level since March 1916 with heavy cattle trading at $8.50 to $9.10. Indianapolis also reported lower hog prices, down 25 to 5 cents, with quotes from $9.25 to $9.50.

William Breuning and Matty Jacket, both 13, were arrested for taking about 3500 tickets from the Butterfly theatre on Twelfth Street two weeks earlier. They pried open the ticket stand, scratched numbers, and distributed tickets to friends in small batches while helping clean the venue. Police traced a scratched ticket to identify them.
South Bend report states Notre Dame football and baseball standout George Gipp died at 9 23 this morning from a throat ailment. He was 24, a senior and law student at Notre Dame, with Laurium Michigan as his home. burial likely in Laurium.
Henry Gabaldon, a southern New Mexico cowpuncher studying acting, was arrested in Omaha for converting a $12.50 check into $3,000. He laments limited schooling and says his aim was only to make $30.
Four children of John Schumann perished when their farm home burned last Monday. Schumann and his wife suffered serious burns, believed to be fatally injured. Authorities suspect kerosene may have been used to start the blaze.
Melvin Herman a 1419 S Ninth Street electrician and amateur radio enthusiast was knocked from his bicycle and crushed on the eighth street bridge by a speeding car at 12 36 Sunday night. He dragged himself off the tracks and to the sidewalk before being taken home for first aid. The driver left him with a deep head wound and leg injuries requiring stitches and causing him to fear long recovery. Herman criticized the driver as heartless noting a taxicab driver assisted him afterward. He works for Warden Rebwaldt Electric and serves as assistant district superintendent of Wisconsin for the American Radio Relay League. In other notes a misstatement about King John and the Magna Charta is corrected noting John did not sign but affixed a seal.
