Prosecutors say Jones provided lurid stories of kidnapping and liquor running in Illinois and Iowa and would turn state's evidence against his co defendants. Hackett was twice kidnapped and paid ransom totaling 71500. He testified before the grand jury against Jones and others.
Hugo A. Klemm disbursed CWA pay in Sheboygan and Manitowoc counties delivering 472 checks totaling 7617.50 on Saturday to Sheboygan workers and 600 checks totaling 5138.35 on Sunday to Two Rivers workers. The payrolls were issued from the U S Treasury and builders had long unpaid work histories.

The U S supreme court upheld extradition of John Jake Factor of Chicago to England for trial on an $8 million swindle. Factor, using aliases, allegedly received large sums from Broad Street Press, Limited, knowing funds were fraudulently obtained. He fought extradition claiming the offense was not a crime under Illinois law.
The city board of public works won state approval for three civil works projects by State Civil Works Administrator Robert C. Johnson in Madison. In total 531 workers will be employed with expenditures of 131,675 dollars. The largest project involves removing abandoned streetcar tracks, employing 516 men for about six days, with labor costing 102,702 dollars and materials 23,550 dollars. A weather stripping project will hire three men for 20 days at 440 dollars in labor and 66.50 dollars in materials. Interior decorating of the city hall will use twelve men for twelve days, funded at 211,797.40 dollars to date.
Wisconsin corporations will save taxes of more than 1,257,000 due to prohibition repeal. Assistant to the collector of internal revenue George Reissmer announced the emergency tax on capital stock will be revoked July 1, 1934. Taxes on excess profits dividends and a 4 cent a gallon gas tax will also be revoked as liquor revenue replaces them. If the president’s December proclamation is issued these taxes won’t be paid after January 1, 1954. No estimate of total taxpayer savings was given.
