State Prohibition Commissioner W Stan Smith and District Attorney Charles Voigt ordered two Wisconsin breweries, Plymouth and Random Lake, to cease operations over alleged sale of beverages with excess alcohol and missing state permits. Olson was born June 17 1900 in this city and enlisted in March 1919. He is survived by his mother, a sister in Salem Massachusetts, and two brothers at home.
A five man four woman bandit crew tied Mr and Mrs Frank Zehr to a bathroom door in Chicago and stole about $800 in jewelry and cash. Zehr leapt from a window to alert officers and was beaten unconscious.
Hibbing Minnesota crown notes moonshiners directing a small plant near Kinney led to a forest fire threat. Fire Warden D L Macintosh dispatched crews Sunday, control achieved, little damage, no moonshine trace found. A separate three day forest blaze near Rocklake was reported under control by Macintosh.

Portersville, Cal. Walter M. Alexander shot and killed J. B. Bachman as Bachman refused to leave her husband. Alexander died before aid could reach him, sheriff believes he committed suicide. The shooting occurred at H. B. Collins ranch, stepfather of Alexander.
An unusual storm event Friday night lifted the Edwin Imig cottage garage roof and two walls, passing the roof between two small trees and slamming into the cottage wall. The roof traveled 75 to 100 feet with paint cans on the walls and no windows broken. The event is described as miraculous for missing the trees.
