Dublin reports say Eamonn De Valera told the Sinn Fein parliament that Ireland cannot and will not accept the British government's terms. He warned there is doubt about acceptance and asserted no enmity toward Britain while seeking a peaceful settlement for a free Ireland.

New York detectives pursued a six member Italian gang after barber Bartola Fontana admitted joining murders for hire. Fontana linked seven New York victims and nine in Detroit to the group from a Brooklyn origin fifteen years earlier.
