Washington reports the United States views Japanese efforts to gain influence in Thailand as part of a coordinated axis strategy with Germany to dominate oceans. Officials say Japan and Germany aim to seize bases in French possessions and the Atlantic and Pacific fronts to isolate the Americas.
The American Club at Kohler will be remodeled in a project starting soon. Frank Archibald of Sarasota, a sportsman pilot, ran out of gas while flying from Chicago to Atlanta and landed his single wing cabin plane on the Meadow Lake Golf and Country Club fairway. He was unhurt and soon towed the plane to the rough as golfers watched. He had earlier flown from Sheboygan to Indiana and then to Sarasota before the incident.
