The 25th annual Wisconsin Moose convention began at Moose temple in Milwaukee with a record turnout of delegates from 43 lodges. More than 200 Mooses registered by noon, boosting state membership to about 7,506. State officers and guests from Mooseheart expected, rituals and festivities planned at Foeste hotel, with initiation of lodge members and a dinner in the evening.
President Roosevelt lauded Soviet resistance as magnificent and stronger than Nazi Germany expected. He said U S aid to Russia is strictly on a payment basis and not under lend lease, noting Moscow has the funds to pay. The remark came during a press conference and continued on page 4.

Rosario, Argentina's second city, hosts a wider backdrop of Latin American actions against Nazi influence and diplomatic tensions with Germany.
Acting Secretary of State Sumner Welles denounced Germany as barefaced impudence for instructing Mexico on its stance toward the U S blacklist of Axis firms in Latin America. He defended Mexican sovereignty and praised inter American solidarity against pro Axis influence.
The U S government purchased 24 cars of American cheese on the Wisconsin Cheese Exchange this morning. Fifty cases of brick were sold to a private concern. Prices rose with brick gaining half a cent and American one quarter cent. Two offers, two bids, and two sales occurred. Market quotations included twins 21 cents, eddars 21 cents, brick 2014 cents.
United Service Organizations drive in Sheboygan county tops $18,000 beating the 50 percent oversubscription goal as city towns and villages contributed. Chairman Herbert V. Kohler thanks county officials and volunteers noting team work and widespread participation across Plymouth Sheboygan Falls Kohler Oostburg Random Lake and other communities.

He thanks all communities, clergy, and local organizations, especially the Sheboygan Association of Commerce and local newspapers, for broad, nonpartisan support.
