Olson acquitted in murder case after long trial

In St Paul Minnesota on April 9 1913 Prof Olson was found not guilty by a jury after six days of testimony in the Darling murder case. The verdict came after Mrs Olson testified and described the events leading to Darling’s killing at the Olson home. The case traces back to threats and a confession heard by the husband. Olson showed emotion upon verdict and prepared to return home to his family amid awaiting relief.

Pope Weakens as Doctors Treat Ill Pontiff

In Rome on April 9 reports differed on the pope's condition with word of possible respiratory trouble and prostration while Vatican officials prepare for a lengthy rest. Cardinals visited without access. Later fever subsided somewhat and doctors noted gradual improvement though weakness persisted. Three thousand pilgrims gathered outside the Vatican praying for his recovery.

Michael Walsh Dies In Massachusetts At 1:30 A M

Michael Walsh of Hingham died at St Nicholas hospital of acute meningitis after a recent bath outing. Born November 29, 1860, he was a stock buyer who traveled across the county. Survived by widow, brother Charles of Milwaukee, and sister Mrs. Harrison Titus of Rhodes Iowa. Funeral Saturday at 11 A M in Hingham Cemetery.

Death of Sheboygan County Resident at City Hospital

A Sheboygan County resident passed away at a local city hospital this morning. Officials provided few additional details, and family notification is pending.

Mary Webb aged 19, sister of Robert the auto bandit, decides to go to a convent as atonement. In separate item, W W Borden, multi millionaire turned missionary, dies in Cairo of spinal meningitis while en route to China after theology studies at Princeton and Moody Bible Institute.

Extra! Accident Is Fatal Mr John Birge Dies in Minneapolis

Mr John Birge formerly of this city died in Minneapolis yesterday at 1 05 pm from an accident that cut off both legs. His brother Charles, yard master for the C N W line, rushed to the scene arriving before death. Henry Birge another brother was at the death bed. He was a conductor on the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul line when struck under car wheels. He lived here with parents on Clara avenue. Three brothers and three sisters survive. Funeral arrangements not yet announced.

Authority lacking for Appleton police dismissal ruling

Oshkosh Wis April 9 Judge Burnell ruled that the board of fire and police commissioners under the commission form of government at Appleton did not have authority to discharge a policeman.

F. Gordon of Little Chute and Paul Shirley pleaded guilty to fighting at Little Chute on March 4. They were sentenced to five and three years respectively in the state reformatory.

Run Over by Train Near Plymouth

John Law of Cascade was run over by the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul passenger train as it left Plymouth at 4 55 yesterday afternoon. His left foot was ground to a pulp and required amputation at St Nicholas hospital after a brakeman blocked his attempt to board. He fell between the cars when the train started and narrowly escaped fatal injury. Dr Griswold on the train treated him before transfer to the interurban car to this city.
