Burglar Mistakenly Shot in Calumet Avenue Hall

Charlies Pennington a Cleveland commercial traveler was shot and killed early today by Harry Farrell a machinist in the hall of an apartment house on Calumet avenue Pennington allegedly sought entry to a third floor apartment while believed to be staying with a second floor family in a blundered burglary attempt in Chicago.

Annual Woman's Club of Sheboygan meets for 1913 convention plans

The Woman's Club of Sheboygan held an afternoon meeting at Robert Blow hall with a business session a musical program and luncheon. Two new members Miss Esther Koehn and Mrs Otho Fiedler were elected. Officers for the next year include President Mrs Fred Koehn and several vice presidents secretaries and a treasurer. The 1913 convention will be held October 24 to 26 with national speakers anticipated.

Turkish cruiser sinks Greek transport in Adriatic

The Turkish cruiser Namidieh sank the Greek steamer Tieros in the Adriatic. The crew was rescued and landed safely at Gaffa Asia Minor. Tieros, a Greek transport, was involved in landing Servian troops at Metua on the Adriatic coast.

Extra Chokes to Death in Sleep

Wm. Sass 17, son of Mr and Mrs Ernst Sass, died at his home on Green Bay Road near Sheboygan Falls. Coroner called to investigate peculiar death as he slept after a normal day. Survived by parents and two sisters Ella and Emma. Funeral Sunday from the home to Green Bay Road church, interment at church cemetery.

Ice flood devastates Chippewa Falls as river roars

A severe thunderstorm sent ice gorges tumbling down the Chippewa river from Chippewa Falls, ripping the Omaha bridge, flooding Soo Line yards, and forcing 500 people in Cobban to evacuate. Water rose rapidly, reaching house tops in places, with warnings issued beforehand.
