Judge Hears Traffic Light Tale From Local Incident
A reported incident in Shafter involves a colored man who crossed on a red light after a crowd of whites started the move when the light showed red. Judge E. K ant offered the tale as the excuse of the year, while officials consider what actions would have followed had the case reached trial. The Negro faced charges for running the red but claimed he waited until others moved and then crossed in an orderly fashion.
