Director Proves Savings In Own City Street Work
Public Works Director Jack Harris told councilmen this week that the city can save about 1500 dollars per block by doing paving in house. He cited a 2009 cost for one block on South Ji Street versus 3486 dollars by Griffith Co. for the same job. The Dandy Co. building 23 homes in Weinberger Tract asked for curb and gutter grades to be set, with Dandy paying 200 dollars and the city engineer to stake the grade. Council also authorized moving equipment for black topping a 100 foot section on Shafter Avenue between Stone Street and Beth Eden.
