An ad describes two dress patterns for women offering comfort and tailored style. Pattern No 8235 ships in sizes 12 to 20 with three buttons on shoulders and hip. Pattern No 8356 covers sizes 36 to 52 with extended shoulders and panelled skirt.
Cheju Island off Korea’s southern tip is famed for a female dominated ocean harvest economy. An estimated 10 000 women work in pearls shellfish edible seaweed and related trades while men care for children and meals. The 1946 census shows 276 148 residents with 113 women per 100 men. The capital Cheju port holds 30 000. Ancient pirate defenses line the shore.
