Arrest made in 1992 murder of Countryside Market manager
Edin Shafterman was arrested and charged with the 1992 murder of Clifford Taylor, 42, manager of Countryside Market. Taylor was shot as he sat in his pickup near his home on Pose Drive in Wasco around 4:15 a.m. on Oct 30, 1992, and died at Kern Medical Center. Investigators had long suspected Edward Welch in the case, but new information led police to reopen the investigation and arrest Shafterman, with Welch to be arraigned earlier this week.
