Rewarding year for Shafter 4-H members in 4-H year
Shafter 4-H members completed the year with honors at three events. Matt Neufeld was among seven medalists at Plant Show Exhibition Day in Bakersfield for his tomato entry. Michael Krause presented bike safety and weather updates at the California State Fair in Sacramento and met Sen. Dan Quayle.

Shafter 4-H begins its new year on September 20 at 7 p m in St Mark s Episcopal Church corner Beech Avenue and State Street. Open to boys and girls nine years and older. Past projects include foods electricity citizenship and raising animals. Family involvement emphasized with parents invited to lead or help. Pre-Buyers Dinner Highlights FFA Fundraisers at Shafter High
The annual Pre-Buyers Dinner hosted by Future Farmers of America at Shafter High on September 8 drew many FFA members and prospective buyers. Guest speaker Dominic Lucas shared a decade of FFA experience while John Banducci discussed Kern County Junior Livestock Committee plans for billing over 800 animals for the Kern County Fair. Larry Zachary announced buyers’ help in sourcing purchasers for members’ animals aiding project funding and next year’s work. contact numbers for the Buyers Committee were provided.
