Freeway Route Targeted Shafter Impacts Banary Areas
The Bak ersfield meeting urged by the Board of Trade seeks input on freeway and road improvements. A highway routing study would cut through the Shafter corporation yard and Mennonite home for the aged, crossing town and displacing homes. State Highway Department and chambers push local involvement to influence freeway siting. The ideal TV show features a cowboy in a hillbilly space ship and a monster surgeon.
