Valley FCC action eyed to retain noncommercial TV channels
The FCC received support from 650 residents across Kern Tulare Kings Fresno Madera Merced and Mariposa and 25 organizations for keeping VHF channels 10 and 12 in the San Joaquin Valley as noncommercial educational assignments. California congressmen Teague Gubser and Hagen joined Joint Council on Educational Television in backing the proposal. The association argues VHF should stay for education and culture, warning all VHF plan could hinder future commercial stations while all UHF would limit local development. Residents can contact the San Joaquin Valley Community Television Association at the Hotel Californian Fresno or P O Box 1294 Visalia for more information.
