Formal launch of an industrial intentions campaign in Kern county will feature next Monday at the Et Tejon Hotel green room. The meeting will name a joint task committee to study low cost housing for rural and minority groups and ratify the committee appointed for the Trade and Service Establishments Division by Asa C. Dimon.
Judge Goodwin Knight of Los Angeles will address a public meeting in the Emerson School auditorium Friday at 8 o clock. The event, hosted by Kern County Pro America with the Kern County Republican Central Committee, is free and replaces the usual Pro America business session. Local listings include updates on Mrs Goehring and Paul Baker on leave.
Lieutenant Vincent Shank, a prisoner of war in Germany, now plays in a POW band and salon orchestra thanks to War Chest’s War Prisoners Aid service of the International YMCA. His mother Nancy Shank of Corona California reports letters detailing shows and instrument lessons from the camp.
Kern County Chamber of Commerce members will study a low cost housing program at the regular monthly meeting on Wednesday evening September 27 in the El Tejon Hotel green room. The session was moved from September 28 to honor the local AAUW branch hosting America's Postwar Adjustment Forum. A baby boy named Kenneth Allen Tucker was born September 7 at Shafter Maternity Home to Cpl and Mrs Tommy Tucker.
Rabbi Levy was named county chairman of the Kern County Association by O R Kamprath president. Levy pledged to uphold high health standards at home and invited volunteers to assist with the campaign by contacting 1825 H Street Room 207 or phone 2 3530 at the County Tuberculosis Association offices.
The Berean Class of the Baptist Church held a lawn and pot luck supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Guenthe on Monday evening. Attendees included Robert Jr and family, the Myers, the Wi family, the Wiebe and Winifred parties, Mrs. Rik Marsh, Rob Roy and Bire, Mrs. C. F. Raney with Paula Kay, Mrs. Wm. Janese, Mrs. John Ratzlaff and Jiawn Kattenhorn.
Sequoia National Forest officials urge Greenhorn district hunters to prevent and extinguish camp and cigarette fires as fire conditions worsen. They warn suppression crews are stretched and call for cooperation to reduce fire risk and contain outbreaks.
Jack Stewart, son of Mr and Mrs R B Stewart, was in Shafter on furlough visiting his parents and wife and young son Bobby. He has been stationed at Muroc Air Base for five months.
