The Hitchcock Hotel Committee invites the public to a Sunday open house September 15 from noon to 2 pm at 530 James Street Shafter. The event kicks a Buy-a-brick fundraiser for the Hitchcock Hotel restoration with bricks sold for 1 each to support the Shafter Historical Society. The campaign aims to raise 1000 by October 31 as bricks are pledged by donors who sign their tickets. A next community yard sale is planned for October 19 at the Shafter Depot Museum with donations accepted by Gretchen Kirk and Art Kadel.
