Fire Destroys Bayless Lane Three-room House
A three room frame house at 18496 Bayless Lane east of Smiths Corner burned to the ground after an undetermined origin. Occupant L C Gregory. Fire crews from Shafter and Minter Field contained the blaze to the single structure and prevented its spread to an adjacent five room house. Over the weekend firefighters also answered three additional alarms for two vehicle fires and a refrigerator blaze. A delivery truck ignition fire and a separate car fire west of the government camp caused further damage.

Five Weekend Arrests Reported in Shafter
Five weekend arrests were reported by the Shafter Police Department. Orville Talbert, 18, faced disturbing the peace and battery charges. J. F. Simpson, 45, was held for intoxication. Lonnie W.
