Suspect identified in Shafter death at Kern Medical Center
Kern County Sheriff's investigative squad says a suspect will be sought in the death of Juan Yanes Lopez of Shafter who died at Kern Medical Center on Tuesday August 24 at 10 00 AM. An earlier shooting at Samarripas Bar on Monday left a man wounded in the left leg. Juan Espinosa and Andreas Calderon of Buttonwillow reported being beaten and robbed late Friday night August 27 near Bakersfield. Calderon was shot at but both men reached Mesa Marin Raceway and полиция were called.

California Highway Patrol reports the death of William Thomas Bates of Shafter who was killed Wednesday August 25 when a load he was hauling shifted as he turned on a slight embankment. The 28 year old man’s upper body was crushed by the truck pulling a three ton trailer of cottonseed for Rancher's Cotton Oil.
