Editorial on Shafter Farm funds and Woollomes integrity
The editorial defends W. R. Woollomes as supervisor candidate in Kern County. It argues previous supervisors handled farm funds similarly, notes annual reports to the federal government, and says surplus funds were returned. It contends the attack targets methods, not honesty, and urges voters to see through the stigmatizing of Woollomes.

Generals Face Tough Test to Stop Corcoran Panthers
The Generals plan to halt Corcoran’s standout halfback Wayne Horton who has piled up yardage this season. Horton, 154 pounds, dazzled against the Coalinga Horned Toads last Friday. Horton previously played for the Corcoran eleven stopped by the Generals last year 19 to 7, when Fullback Glen Hamilton led the Panthers. Hamilton’s ankle injury against Lemoore may prevent a repeat performance. Corcoran leads Coalinga and was still favored to beat Wasco in season standings.

More than 100 Red Feather workers canvassed Shafter and collected over 4720 for the Community Chest. Bruce Crawford says the drive is short about 1508 of the 6048.50 goal and expects the remaining 25 percent of workers to finish envelopes. Besides late pickups, 25 or more large concerns are expected to contribute. The campaign has already surpassed last year’s 4400.80 total.
