Assessor Fitch Reports Double Digit Rise in County Property Values
Assessor-Recorder Fitch says Kem County property values rose about 8 percent, adding 3.6 billion dollars to the Assessment Roll. The secured roll gained roughly 2.57 billion due to a booming housing market driven by low rates and migration from Southern California. About 5,100 new single family homes were added, a 30 percent year over year increase, with 9,700 properties restored to Prop 13 base values. Unsecured and mobilehome rolls rose modestly as schools receive about 61 percent of tax collections.
