Shafter Drug Court marks graduates and program impact
Court official Ingle recalls the Shafter Drug Court program begun in 1994 with Santos Cepeda, now the only such program in Kern County after Bakersfield closed its facility. Graduates receive certificates, a chance at jobs, and a potential dismissal or sentence modification. 75 percent stay clean, while 25 percent reoffend, as weekly counseling and Narcan meetings support recovery.
