Camp Kemerec Closes After Recreation Expansion
Kern County Parks Director Herb Evans announced Camp Kemerec in Kernville will shut as Lake Isabella area facilities reduce the need. Opened in World War II under Forest Service permit for servicemen and families near China Lake, the camp will be studied for potential substitute camping sites to support other county and Forest Service installations.

Gardener's Checklist for Winter Colour and Early Spring Planting
Gardener advises calendula cyclamen and pansies for winter color while stock and snapdragons supply late winter and early spring blooms. Plant lily hybrids this month with good drainage and shop for azaleas. Control snails and slugs with pellets and stake chrysanthemums to prevent flattening from early rains. Hold off feeding mums as they begin to bloom.
