New 100000 Coberly West Cotton Gin Opens Near Shafter
A $100,000 Coberly West cotton gin near Shafter on Santa Fe road and Rio Bravo highway is open for inspection this weekend. The plant features a five stand Murray gin, modern office and mill building, thermostatic dryer, and hot air systems with access runways. General manager H D West and Bates Dewey oversee operations. the firm recently opened a Delano plant as well. Residents are invited to visit.

Auxiliary Seeks Old Keys for War Salvage
The Auxiliary of Leslie L. Robinson Post No. 213 American Legion seeks old keys for salvage to aid the war effort. At the post’s fall meeting Mrs. J. B. Henderson presided as members urged neighbors to donate keys. Fourteen members attended and the fifteenth auxiliary meeting is set for Bakersfield on Oct 18. Bond purchases from a rum mage sale totaled three twenty five dollar bonds. Members helped with the Red Cross snow suit shipment to England and a social hour followed.
