Shafter Youth Center Project Moves Forward Says City Manager
Kern County Economic Opportunity Corporation continues work on converting the old Shafter Motel property into an 18,565 square foot Youth Center costing about 1.5 million dollars with a 1.3 million grant from the California Youth Authority. The Shafter Community Development Agency holds the motel and a public hearing is required before final approval. The center would open to all residents and include a gymnasium game room computer room and craft room with management by ECEOC. Contact City Manager John Guinn at 746-6365 for more information.
