Shafter Chamber of Commerce dominated the Kern County Fair booth with 130 products on display. 120 earned first and 10 second places, bringing near 2500 dollars in prize money for booth maintenance as the fair closed Sunday. Dawn Wadman led the champion beef and Kari carving of epee won first place and chairman's choice. The event was a memorable date for 88.
Kern County supervisors approved bidding for the Shafter and Wasco Administration and Court Complex. Chair Roy Ashburn targets a November 1 groundbreaking. The plan includes a 6400 square foot administration building and a 13800 square foot court, with construction cost around 2.205 million and total allocations of 3.416 million including land acquisition.
