Six year old struck by patrol car in Shafter collision
A six year old Shafter child, Fernando Villagomez, ran onto Shafter Avenue and collided with a Shafter Police Patrol Car driven by Officer Ryan Hoyt. The child suffered major head injuries and was airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. MAIT will inspect the patrol car as the investigation proceeds.

Shafter’s Chamber of Commerce entry titled Its All About You in 2002 earned third place among Kern County Fair community exhibits. The gazebo featured live butterflies from Insect Lore Inc. and flowers, with photos of residents, a recorded message, and local foods on display. Code Precast Wins Minority Business Award in San Joaquin Valley
Code Precast Products Inc led by General Manager Abran Morales receives nomination for a national minority business award. The Central Valley Business Development Council honored nine valley firms during a Sept 25 luncheon at the DoubleTree in Bakersfield with California Assemblyman Dean Florez delivering the keynote.
