City's Radio Bid Denied After Civil Defense Negotiations
After months of talks with the Civil Defense agency the city’s request to buy radio communications on a matching funds basis was denied for not serving the primary civil defense purpose. Councilman Grundy was authorized to pursue another approach and to avoid misleading the agency about intended use. The council also addressed maintenance payments to a county employee and approved purchasing a new resuscitator. A Wasco game bonfire saw no incidents and Shafter High set a December 12 football banquet at 7 p.m. with Gil Bishop as guest speaker and tickets only by reservation.
