Veteran lawmakers expect a unified 1943 session to pass wartime measures quickly. Fred Houser to lead the Senate, Charles Lyon likely to chair the Assembly, with aims to shorten the session by April or May and focus on war‑related bills and tax relief.

Mrs Willie Nichols wife of Pete Nichols of Shafter died in Bakersfield hospital on November 10 1942 age 59 born May 12 1883 in Johnson county Arkansas near Clarksville. Survived by husband Pete Nichols daughter Lillian Ashing Fort Smith Arkansas and sisters Mary R Bollen Ellen Jarning Susie Stardin Mattie Bramlet and many friends. Funeral services held in Shafter November 13 at 2 30 p m Janzen Funeral Home in charge.
