Thanksgiving holiday closes Shafter office and clinics
The Shafter Press will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving, reopening Monday. The Shafter Public Health Department lists November clinics at 329 Central Valley Highway with appointments needed for all but the Immunization Clinic. Gold star mother award given in Shafter after 30 years
Nina Barraza received the first gold star mother award in three decades at the Shafter American Legion Auxiliary Post 213 Thanksgiving dinner. Barraza’s son, Staff Sgt. Ricardo Barraza, died from wounds in western Iraq on March 18. Local and state officials honored her with resolutions and gratitude for her family’s sacrifice.
