Mr and Mrs Marvin Neuman hosted a Halloween buffet on October 31 with guests including Art Craig Herbert Neuman Otto Handel Jack Crawford Clarence Neuman Johnnie Gaede Buck Osborne Herbert Granquist Robert Neuman Boyd Miller and Misses Patricia Mettler Betty Wise plus Gregory Malofy and Harvey Neuman.

Kiwanis club members from Shafter recount the California-Nevada District convention held in Oakland on October 10 to 12. Art Hemingson and Ted Kinman presented a full convention summary including speeches by noted speakers. The 26th annual gathering showcased 174 clubs as the district’s size and influence.
Mr and Mrs A C Hiett and family of Delano were weekend guests of the Kenneth Pipkins. Mrs Hiett is the sister of Mrs Pipkin.
A new Seaside Service Station opened last week at Santa Fe and Tulare streets as an addition to Santa Fe Garage. Managed by Chuck Firkins, it offers gasoline, lubrication, washing, polishing, battery and tire service, and all motorist needs. Firkins recently arrived from Los Angeles and was discharged from the Army after serving since June 1944.
A regular meeting of the Junior Womans Club was held October 23 at the Wednesday Afternoon Clubhouse. Guest speaker was Mrs. Peter Channesson. Hostesses were Annabel Thompson, Florence Buckholtz and Dorothy Horwith. The next meeting will be November 13, 1946.
A chapter of Future Homemakers of America was established at Shafter High School under instructors Violet Brughelli and Helen Gangu. Officers include Bobbie-Nichols president Eunice Guenther vice president Lois West secretary Mamie Rains treasurer Velma Bradshaw social chairman Elsie Kastner publicity chairman. The group aims to join the national organization and organize activities such as a babysitters group to aid mothers and raise funds.
