Members of the Shafter FFA Chapter 69 hosted a large banquet on Monday October 27 at 6 30 p m in Veterans Hall to honor buyers who supported this year s Kern County Fair projects. Seventy six exhibitors showed 106 beef swine and sheep animals generating 58750 at the auction.
The RSD board met Monday with Chair absent and audience sparse to discuss a Lerdo annexation plan and potential district reorganization. They approved space for Camp Dickson, outlined SCICON funding, and reviewed foggy day safety rules for delayed openings.
The Cub Scout Pack has over 60 boys and plans to reactivate the local Boy Scout troop after the first of the year as several lads are ready to move up to Boy Scouts.
The Shafter Press announces office will open Monday November 10 and Tuesday November 11 as usual. Article deadline is 9 AM Monday and classified ads must be in by 10 AM Monday to appear in the Wednesday edition.
The highs and lows for September ran below normal, while October saw only the lows about three degrees cooler than normal. Weather patterns are described as changing along with other factors this season.
