Turkey Season Good For Careful Growers
Fewer turkeys were raised this year in California than last, but those growers who produced birds from improved strains and marketed early should earn higher profits. Dr. V. S. Asmundsen notes that early ready birds gain more efficiently, while older birds cost more to feed. He cites rising production yet low overall meat share, and credits artificial hatching, better feeding, and disease control for the gains.
