Richland School District educators attended a Saturday seminar led by Carolyn Reimen and Renaissance Learning consultant to deepen use of the Accelerated Reader program. Topics included scheduling, progress tracking, goal setting, and diagnosing reading challenges. Parents can access quiz lists at Kern County Library branches and district libraries.

Redwood Elementary School in Shafter plans its third Veterans Day Assembly at the Shafter Veterans Hall on November 10. Two sessions run 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 12:55 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. with a slideshow of local veterans and current service members, student performances, and an open photo submission to the school office.
