Richland proposes developers' fees for new classrooms
Superintendent Dr. Vera Stone explains that enrollment growth from six housing developments and a proposed annexation would require 13 additional classrooms beyond restored junior high rooms. With district reserves used for insurance gaps, other funds must be found, as Leray Greene bond money is scarce and portables may be needed. A 20 percent fee discount for builders contributing to capital projects is proposed, with a committee forming to pursue a November special tax measure. Details at 746-3904.
