Parents oppose RSD budget cuts including strings program
Richland parents and students criticized the district for eliminating the strings program for 2008 2009 amid Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed 10 percent across the board cuts to close a 14.5 billion deficit. Parents questioned timing as some learned of the cut only weeks ago while teachers and students praised Cindy Nyenhuis Miller. District officials say preserving all programs is impossible and explore after school funding to support strings.
