Richland Lardo School District trustees plan to select a candidate Monday to fill the vacancy left by Mark Franz. Ads invited qualified applicants amid MAPA concerns over Hispanic representation and potential boycotts if the preferred candidate is not chosen.
The Kern County Board of Trade reports April gains in Shafter driven by public and private expansion. A $1.3 million water tank and remodel of the old courthouse into city hall boosted April totals to 2.48 million, vs 1991’s 119 thousand. January–April rose to 3.69 million versus 665 thousand last year.
The city of Shafter and state controller’s office are finalizing a response to an audit of the Shafer Rewrito Custody RTC facility. Shafter City Council approves a tentative two phase detached single family subdivision of 97 lots on about 19.6 acres located north of Lerdo Highway, west of Schnidt Street and south of Mark Street. Start of construction is planned later this year.
