California utilities data show fewer grade crossing accidents
Preliminary statistics from the California Public Utilities Commission report a drop in grade crossing accidents. Chairman J P Vukasin Jr said the first quarter of 1971 saw a 6.6 percent decline, while the 12 month period ending in March showed a 5.0 percent decrease.

Tax Assistance Forms Available At Bakersfield
Kent H. Stacey announced senior citizens property tax assistance forms are available in English and Spanish at his Bakersfield district office. Filing runs May 16 through October 15. Last year 897 Kern County residents received a total $54,159 in rebates. Eligibility includes age over 65 ownership and occupancy, income $3350 or less, and property tax payments.
