Kern County Potato Publication Details 1945 Distribution
The Agricultural Extension Service in Kern County released its 15th annual potato publication for 1945, covering acreage yield and production from 1920 to 1946. Production rose from 309 acres in 1920 to 60,000 acres in 1945, driven by quality demand per acre and low costs. In 1930 Kern County shipped 1,495 carrot cars of potatoes, rising to 30,065 cars in 1945, with New York receiving over 1,000 cars, Chicago 1,902, and New Orleans near 100.
