Four Candidates Vie For Democratic Slot In 16th District
In the Bakersfield area primary race for the 16th District Democratic nomination, Carl Bryan Jr., Robert J. Spencer, and Ray Gonzales challenge incumbent Don Rogers, who seeks another term amid criticism of his district representation. Rogers touts service and broad support while his challengers push focus on environment, education, and economic diversification. Bryan, a local businessman, emphasizes high tech growth and smaller class sizes. Spencer, asserting fresh leadership, calls for proactive crime and environmental policies.
