Preservation push aims to save Hitchcock Hotel in Shafter
The Shafter Historical Society moves to preserve the Hitchcock Hotel on James Street as a National Register of Historic Places listing goals, with a restoration plan using historic building codes. A Hitchcock Hotel Committee meets monthly, seeking public help and memories from residents who recall the hotel’s early days to guide the project.

Lisa Castilleja and Lisha Lewis are among 81 Kern County students awarded 40500 in Nichols Memorial Scholarship funds. Dr. Claude W.
