Walk in seventh gives General nine 5-4 victory against Taft
The Shafter Generals beat Taft 5-4 at Hudson Park after a Walk in the seventh. Dwight Watts opened with a first inning triple and Manuel Melero drove in the go ahead run as Norman Williams scored on a Taft error. Taft tied the game in the sixth before four Taft walks produced the final run, with Melero then walking in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. The Generals improve to 3-10 in South Sequoia League and travel to Coalinga and host Corcoran in their final league games.

Shafter under Coach Alex Vasquez closed its season with a 78 57 win over Taft and an 81 34 win over Garces in a SSL double dual. The Generals finished 3 2 in the league, with losses to Wasco and Corcoran. Four double winners led the meet: White Meyer Carrillo Lopez. Scott Riggle exited in the singles first round while Pam Wells placed fourth after a 7-5 6-2 loss to Lisa Garten of Coalinga.
