Elementary Art Exhibit deadline set for Kern County Fair
May 16 is the deadline for the Kern County Fair Elementary School Art Exhibit. Mrs. Phyllis Robinson explains pickup routes and delivery to the Instructional Resources Center in Bakersfield. Rules limit one entry per grade level per district and require original student work not larger than 36 inches, with judging by three qualified art educators and trophies awarded at County School Kids Day.

Bus drivers to be honored for safety in Kern County
More than 100 school bus drivers with outstanding safety records will be honored at the Kern County School Boards Association spring dinner May 8. 114 honorees have safely transported children nearly 34 million miles over 15 years. The event at Casa Royale begins at 8 p.m. CHP officials will present the awards. eight drivers with the most safe driving years will represent the group.
