Eastern Trip Recap By Mr and Mrs Mert Wiedmann
Mr and Mrs Wiedmann returned Sunday from a two week eastward journey starting in Detroit where they bought a new car. They drove through upper New York state visited Connecticut and bypassed New York City to Washington DC enjoying the capitol and the New States. They then headed south to Florida stopping in New Orleans and Texas visiting Albert Wilson in Tucson. Albert attends the University of Arizona School of Pharmacy and the campus tour was a highlight. The trip was described as a flying trip but very enjoyable.

Mr and Mrs Don Anderson and daughter Nancy of Los Angeles spent the weekend with his parents in Shafter at 240 Pacific. They fished at California Hot Springs with poor results and plan another try in about a month. Bill Tyler of Wilmington Beach visited the Morgans in Shafter with Air Force ties. Virginia Frost, accepted at UC Davis for enrollment as a junior, will graduate Bakersfield College next month with a home economics major. May 8 Hope Sunday appeal urges donations to City of Hope. Tragic Viet Nam Death of Ronnie Lovett Ties to Hearn Family
Ronnie R. Lovett, 18, a gunner in the 167th Aviation Company, died in a Viet Nam helicopter crash less than three weeks after arriving in country. He was flown to San Antonio military hospital after being wounded and died one day before his 19th birthday. Lovett, a former Ashland National Guard member, had lived in Shafter and Bakersfield earlier and left behind his parents and three brothers.
