Kern County Postwar Planning proposes small acre farms
The Kern County Postwar Planning group weighs subsistence plots to house postwar migrants. Lake suggests acreages of one or two acres where families can grow vegetables, raise animals, and become tied to the soil. The idea could apply to factory or office workers as well. Shafter and other towns may develop industrial and agricultural potential, making small acreages near work worth studying.
