Rolin to be tried for murder in Hurst case
Gerald Red Rolin will stand trial on a murder charge for the February traffic death of his former wife Vickie Hurst after a two day preliminary hearing in Shafter. West Kern Municipal Court heard witnesses describe a high speed chase along Tulare and Poplar avenues ending with Hurst’s car overturning and her death. Rolin’s car and a tow bar were identified by witnesses and by family members at the scene.

First solo flight ends in crash near Minter Field
Plane piloted by 31 year old Kobayashi clipping power lines near Gogley Avenue and Lerdo Highway, crashing into an alfalfa field near a KOA campground. An off duty Kern County deputy Michael Lackey saw a larger car smash into a smaller one on Poplar from Riverside Street. Sharon Chambers, friend of the defendant, said Rolin visited her Wasco home between 3:30 and 4 pm in a good mood, but later mood shifted.
